First Gen Corporation has signed an agreement to supply 100% renewable energy to Sanyo Denki Philippines’ facilities located at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Zambales. The electricity will be sourced from First Gen’s geothermal power plant in Negros Oriental.
This move supports Sanyo Denki’s long-term global goal of shifting all its production sites to renewable energy. The company, which began its Philippine operations in 2000, manufactures uninterruptible power supply devices, photovoltaic inverters, servo motors, amplifiers, and DC cooling fans.
“We are pleased to start our partnership with First Gen which we believe is the best way to achieve our goal of using more renewable energy in our production, especially in light of our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. We also believe it is our obligation to provide our customers with products that are produced using renewable energy,” said Hirokazu Takeuchi, president and CEO of Sanyo Denki Philippines.
In addition to the energy supply, First Gen’s sister company, Pi Energy Inc., will help Sanyo Denki improve its energy efficiency and optimize consumption.

First Gen currently operates 28 renewable energy facilities across the country with a total installed capacity of 1,651 megawatts, covering solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal sources.
