Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has appointed Garrick Thompson as managing director of FedEx Philippines, placing a seasoned company executive at the helm as the logistics giant looks to deepen its role in the country’s growing trade and e-commerce landscape.
Thompson will lead more than 1,300 employees in the Philippines, with a mandate to strengthen operational performance, improve customer experience and help more local businesses tap overseas markets through cross-border trade.
He will also oversee the Asia Pacific Trade Facilitation Center, which handles customs clearance, trade compliance and critical cargo documentation across Asia Pacific, the United States, Canada and Europe.
The appointment marks Thompson’s return to the Philippines after more than five years as managing director of FedEx Indonesia.
A FedEx veteran since 2007, Thompson began his career with the company in New Zealand and has since held leadership positions spanning human resources, operations and sales.
He previously served as senior sales manager for FedEx Philippines, where he helped drive revenue growth and expand the company’s customer base. Thompson is also a recipient of the FedEx Five Star Award, the company’s highest recognition for leadership, business impact and teamwork.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in management studies, majoring in strategic management and human resources, from the University of Waikato.
Thompson assumes the role as FedEx continues to expand its logistics capabilities in the Philippines, where it has operated for more than four decades.
The company connects Philippine businesses to customers and markets in more than 220 countries and territories through its global transportation and logistics network, supporting the continued expansion of trade and e-commerce.
Among the key investments Thompson will oversee is the expansion of the FedEx facility in Clark, an important transshipment gateway designed to improve regional connectivity and support the company’s broader growth strategy in Southeast Asia.
With cross-border commerce becoming increasingly important to Philippine businesses, Thompson’s appointment positions FedEx to further strengthen its local operations while helping companies—particularly those looking beyond the domestic market—reach customers and opportunities worldwide.
