Erich Gonzales trades red carpet for grandstand as family pride takes center stage in Thailand

Far from movie sets and premieres, Erich Gonzales spent the week on the sidelines of the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand, embracing a quieter but deeply personal role: that of a wife and sister-in-law cheering from the stands.

Gonzales traveled to Bangkok not for work, but for family, lending her voice and presence to the Philippine equestrian team where her husband, Mateo Lorenzo, and his sister, Paola Lorenzo, proudly represented the country.

Through brief but telling Instagram Stories, the actress offered a glimpse into competition days filled with nerves, applause, and emotional embraces rather than scripted drama.

One of the most shared moments came after Paola completed her run in the show jumping event. Gonzales was heard cheering from the crowd before greeting the young rider with a tight hug, a quiet celebration that mirrored the family-first tone of her recent public appearances.

Paola later secured the silver medal in individual jumping, adding a podium finish to what had already been a meaningful Games for the Lorenzo family.

Mateo Lorenzo is also set to compete in the equestrian events, riding It’s a Men GR, a 12-year-old bay gelding, as part of the national contingent. While Gonzales kept her posts understated, the message was clear: the spotlight, for now, belongs to the athletes.

The Thailand trip stood in contrast to Gonzales’ typically private approach to her personal life. Since marrying Mateo in an intimate ceremony in Alabang in 2022, the actress has largely stepped back from public displays, choosing instead to surface occasionally through candid, family-centered moments like this one.

Speculation surrounding the couple’s possible transition into parenthood earlier this year has remained unaddressed, and Gonzales has stayed consistent in keeping such matters off the public record. Her presence at the SEA Games, however, offered a rare look at a different chapter of her life—one defined less by celebrity and more by shared milestones, quiet pride, and unwavering support from the stands.

In Thailand, there were no scripts to follow and no cameras to face. Just a Filipina actress, a cheering crowd, and a family celebrating hard-earned moments on the regional sporting stage.
