“Elden Ring” heads to the big screen in Live-Action adaptation

The critically acclaimed video game Elden Ring is officially getting a live-action film adaptation.

According to a report by Deadline, the adaptation will be written and directed by Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation) under production companies A24 and Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc., the latter being the publisher of the original game.

While plot details and casting have yet to be announced, the involvement of Garland and A24 hints at a visually striking and thematically rich interpretation of the game’s dark, fantasy-laden world.

Released in 2022 and helmed by renowned game director Hidetaka Miyazaki with worldbuilding contributions from George R. R. Martin (Game of Thrones), Elden Ring quickly became a genre-defining action RPG. It earned widespread acclaim and took home the coveted Game of the Year award at The Game Awards 2022.

Fans can look forward to seeing the Lands Between brought to life—though when that will be remains to be revealed.
