EastWest wins top investment banking honors, bringing more wealth-building investments to Filipinos

EastWest is proving that its biggest investment isn’t just in businesses—it’s in creating more opportunities for Filipinos to grow their wealth.

The bank’s Investment Banking team has earned two major industry awards for helping bring some of the country’s largest capital market deals to life, giving EastWest customers greater access to high-value investment opportunities traditionally reserved for big institutional players.

For EastWest clients, the recognition means one thing: the bank is strengthening its ability to connect everyday investors with some of the Philippines’ most significant investment opportunities.

EastWest recently received the IPO Deal of the Year – Philippines award from Asian Banking & Finance for its role in the landmark P34.3-billion initial public offering (IPO) of Maynilad Water Services, Inc.—the second-largest IPO in Philippine history. The bank was also recognized by the PDS Group as one of the country’s Top 5 Corporate Issue Managers/Arrangers for 2025, marking its sixth consecutive year in the prestigious list.

These awards highlight EastWest’s growing expertise in helping companies raise capital while giving Filipino investors more ways to participate in the country’s economic growth.

“At the heart of successful capital raising is a clear understanding of what our clients want to achieve,” said Rafael S. Algarra Jr., Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Financial Markets and Wealth Management at EastWest.

“By bringing together the right investors and helping build confidence throughout the process, we aim to deliver thoughtful advice and disciplined execution. These recognitions encourage us to keep doing just that,” he said.

The Maynilad IPO, which attracted overwhelming investor demand and was oversubscribed 2.7 times, showcased EastWest’s ability to open doors for domestic and retail investors to participate in one of the country’s most sought-after investment offerings. The proceeds of the IPO are helping fund critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects that will benefit millions of Filipinos.

Beyond IPOs, EastWest continues to play a leading role in the domestic debt capital market, helping businesses access funding through corporate bonds and other investment instruments. This translates into more diversified investment products that EastWest customers can potentially include in their portfolios.

As more Philippine companies turn to the capital markets to finance expansion plans and infrastructure projects, EastWest is positioning itself as a bridge between businesses seeking growth and Filipinos looking to build their financial future.

For customers, these recognitions go beyond industry awards—they reflect EastWest’s commitment to providing access to quality investment opportunities backed by strong market expertise and trusted relationships.

“Every transaction represents a company’s next chapter, whether it’s expanding operations, investing in infrastructure, or pursuing long-term growth,” Algarra added. “Our role is to help our clients achieve those goals while creating more opportunities for retail investors to participate in the capital market and build their investment portfolios with confidence.”

With back-to-back industry recognitions and six straight years among the country’s top capital market arrangers, EastWest is sending a clear message to its customers: when the country’s biggest investment opportunities emerge, the bank wants Filipinos to have a seat at the table.
