Cloudy skies and rain are set to persist across much of the country on Saturday as the easterlies continue to affect the Philippines, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Southern Leyte, Bohol, Lanao del Sur, Cotabato, and Davao Oriental will likely see cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms brought by the prevailing easterlies.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, meanwhile, may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms for the rest of the day, also due to the easterlies.

PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorms could trigger flash floods or landslides in vulnerable areas, prompting the public to remain alert, especially in communities prone to flooding and slope failures.

Sea conditions will remain slight to moderate, with light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast to north over Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao. Across the rest of Luzon, winds will also be light to moderate, coming from the east to northeast.

Sunrise was at 6 a.m., while sunset is expected at 6:07 p.m.
