As the House resumed its session, Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III called on legislators on Monday to set aside partisan differences and work together on key political reforms, stressing the importance of service over politics.

The Speaker said lawmakers must remain united despite differing viewpoints, emphasizing that meaningful legislation benefits Filipino families and strengthens public trust. “My colleagues, there will be a time when we may have different political views. But I hope we remain united for a bigger goal: the dignified and wholehearted service for the Filipino people,” he said.

Dy highlighted that trust must be earned through results-oriented governance and concrete action, not just speeches. “I firmly believe that trust is not demanded—it is earned. And we will prove this every day through quick action, proper decision-making, and programs with a clear result in sight,” he added.

The Speaker confirmed that the House will move forward on sensitive measures, including the anti-political dynasty bills. He acknowledged the topic’s personal and controversial nature but stressed the need for open discussion. “If we are serious with reforms, if our goal is a fair chance for everyone, we must have the courage to talk about it—honestly, openly, and with sincerity,” Dy said.

Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, chair of the House committee on suffrage and electoral reforms, announced that the first hearing on the 20 pending anti-political dynasty bills will take place on Tuesday, July 27. He added that veteran jurists and constitutional framers will participate to ensure compliance with the 1987 Constitution.

Dy also touched on the House’s oversight of the 2026 General Appropriations Act, pledging performance audits and validation to guarantee proper use of public funds. He announced plans to implement blockchain technology for transparency and the development of a “House Book” app to monitor legislative processes and documents.

Aside from these reforms, the House will address impeachment complaints against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., franchise issues of Solar Para sa Bayan Corp., and other pressing legislative matters, signaling a busy and reform-focused session ahead.
