MAGSINGAL, Ilocos Sur – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has opened its 29th Negosyo Center in Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, to provide aspiring business owners and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with easier access to business development services.

DTI Ilocos Sur Acting Provincial Director Zaldy Zafra said Wednesday, October 21, that the facility aims to assist individuals planning to establish businesses while helping existing entrepreneurs improve operations, reach wider markets, and become more competitive.

“This highlights the strong collaboration between DTI and local government units in creating an enabling environment for business growth and entrepreneurship,” Zafra said.

The newly established center will offer business advisory services, entrepreneurship training, registration assistance, and information on various DTI programs designed to support MSMEs.

Established under Republic Act 10644, or the Go Negosyo Act, Negosyo Centers serve as local hubs that promote entrepreneurship and provide assistance to small businesses nationwide.

The initiative also seeks to encourage innovation, generate livelihood opportunities, and contribute to economic development by helping aspiring entrepreneurs turn business ideas into sustainable enterprises.

Magsingal Mayor Victoria Ina Favis welcomed the opening of the center, describing it as another step toward strengthening the municipality’s business environment and bringing government services closer to communities.

Meanwhile, Vicky Ulap, president of the Tilapia Growers Association in Ilocos Sur, expressed appreciation for the initiative and its potential benefits for local livelihood groups.

“Thanks to DTI for opening up more opportunities for entrepreneurs. This creates more sustainable livelihood opportunities for our community,” Ulap said.

The DTI emphasized that continued cooperation with local government units remains essential in expanding business opportunities and strengthening the competitiveness of MSMEs, particularly in rural communities.
