MANILA – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has prepared 7,000 family food packs (FFPs) for delivery to Basco, Batanes, as part of its disaster preparedness measures ahead of the expected impact of Typhoon Rosal.

On Thursday, October 22, the relief supplies were loaded onto the Philippine Coast Guard’s (PCG) BRP Corregidor (AE-891) at Pier 13 in Manila’s Port Area for transport to the northernmost province.

The shipment aims to ensure that Batanes has sufficient emergency food supplies readily available before the anticipated arrival of the typhoon.

The DSWD said it continues to conduct preemptive disaster response operations, closely monitor the movement of Typhoon Rosal, and coordinate with concerned government agencies and local government units.

The agency is also strengthening its readiness to provide immediate assistance to communities that may be affected by the weather disturbance.

The prepositioning of relief supplies forms part of the government’s efforts to minimize potential disruptions in disaster response, particularly in geographically isolated areas such as Batanes.

Residents are advised to monitor official weather bulletins, follow local government advisories, and take necessary precautions as the typhoon approaches.
