The Department of Social Welfare and Development has assured the public that its newly launched Kaagapay donations portal will serve as a secure and transparent channel for sending cash assistance to families and communities affected by recent calamities.

In an interview on Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian said the portal was developed to make donating simpler, safer, and more direct for individuals and organizations eager to help disaster-stricken areas.

“To prevent our good Samaritans from getting scammed, we created the Kaagapay portal. If you want to donate, go to the DSWD website — you’ll find the link there,” Gatchalian said in Filipino.

He explained that donations made through Kaagapay do not go to the department’s accounts. Instead, the funds are transferred directly to verified local government units or DSWD-accredited nongovernmental organizations engaged in humanitarian and disaster response efforts. Only registered and licensed groups can access the system, ensuring that every peso reaches its intended beneficiaries.

“This platform prevents scams and guarantees that donations truly go where they’re needed. It also allows donors to remain anonymous if they wish, while keeping their data secure,” he added.

Cash assistance can be sent through GCash, PayMaya, and LandBank, providing donors with convenient and trusted payment options.

Those interested in helping may visit the Kaagapay portal through the DSWD website.
