Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon on Monday said the agency will implement infrastructure projects in 2026 that are cost-effective without sacrificing quality.

He assured the public that right pricing, speedy construction, and high-quality output can be achieved simultaneously.

“It’s possible, the price (of the project) can be right, (the construction) can be fast and quality,” Dizon said.

The DPWH chief cited the Piggatan Detour Bridge in Alcala, Cagayan, which was completed in just 60 days as an example of rapid project delivery.

He also mentioned the repair of Cebu Provincial Hospital in Bogo City, Cebu, which included temporary tents and smart city installations.

Renovations of school buildings in Masbate damaged by Typhoon Opong were also completed under the department’s fast-response initiatives.

Dizon said two more infrastructure projects are expected to be finished soon.

These include the collapsed section of the Bukidnon-Davao Road in Sitio Kipolot, Quezon, Bukidnon, which is slated for completion by January 6.

The still-under-construction San Juanico Bridge in Tacloban City has been partially opened to heavy vehicles.

Dizon emphasized that the DPWH aims to replicate these achievements in future projects to meet President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive for durable, well-maintained, and cost-efficient public structures.
