MANILA — Department of Labor and Employment -NCR Regional Director Atty. Roy Buenafe assured the agency’s continued support for the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) initiatives in providing immediate and sustainable livelihood opportunities to help address the economic needs of urban poor families.
Buenafe met with PCUP Commissioner Reynaldo Galupo and emphasized the urgency and necessity of providing immediate and sustainable livelihood opportunities to help address the economic needs of urban poor families.
The meeting comes in the heels of Galupo’s July 29 consultation with prospective beneficiaries in several barangays in Caloocan City, where the livelihood needs of the urban poor were discussed.
Buenafe said DOLE will support the livelihood initiative, including the new proposed Negokart Express project, which provides a mobile vending cart with an e-bike for beneficiaries. He said the assistance will be implemented by batch, subject to procurement and the assessment of qualified beneficiaries, to ensure that support reaches those who need it most as soon as possible.
Galupo welcomed DOLE-NCR’s support, emphasizing the importance and urgency of providing livelihood opportunities to urban poor communities to help them secure income, improve their living conditions, and build more stable futures.
