The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has opened more than 2,700 slots for its Government Internship Program (GIP) in the Ilocos Region this year, offering young individuals hands-on experience in public service.
DOLE Ilocos Region information officer Jenny Mapile said the internships are spread across the region, with over 500 slots in Ilocos Norte, over 200 in Ilocos Sur, over 500 in La Union, and over 1,500 in Pangasinan.
Interns will work in national government agencies or local government units (LGUs) for three to six months and will receive a daily stipend of PHP468, equivalent to the regional minimum wage.
Interested applicants may apply through their LGU’s Public Employment Services Office (PESO) or the nearest DOLE office.
GIP is part of the KABATAAN 2000 program under Executive Order No. 139, series of 1993, and DOLE Administrative Order No. 260-15. It aims to give young people, particularly from low-income families, the opportunity to explore public service.
Applicants must be 18 to 30 years old and have at least a high school diploma. “Exceptions may be granted in areas affected by disasters or other extraordinary circumstances,” Mapile said.
