Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. will join defense and military leaders from around the world at the 22nd International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore from May 30 to June 1.
DND spokesperson Assistant Secretary Arsenio Andolong said Thursday that Secretary Teodoro, along with senior officials from the DND and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, will hold bilateral and multilateral meetings with counterparts from various countries.
“These engagements aim to discuss regional and global security issues and strengthen defense and security cooperation with allies,” Andolong stated.
He emphasized that Teodoro’s participation builds on President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s keynote address at last year’s dialogue and highlights the Philippines’ commitment to a rules-based international order and sustained peace in the Indo-Pacific Region.
The IISS Shangri-La Dialogue is an annual forum that gathers defense ministers, military chiefs, and strategic experts to address pressing global security concerns and promote regional cooperation.
