The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has distributed over ₱10 million in livelihood assistance to more than 1,000 female Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) as part of the “Balik Pinay, Balik Hanapbuhay” program.
Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, alongside Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, led the initiative, granting ₱10,000 in livelihood aid to each beneficiary.
According to Secretary Cacdac, the program aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to empower women and provide them with opportunities to rebuild their lives.
Meanwhile, Secretary Pangandaman emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting women through the Women’s Budget, which is integrated into the General Appropriations Act (GAA)—allocating 5% of the budget for gender-focused programs.
This initiative underscores the government’s continuous efforts to support returning female OFWs, equipping them with resources to start their own businesses and achieve financial independence.
