The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has assured the necessary assistance to a Filipino domestic worker who was involved in the recent death of a child in her employer’s household in Kuwait.
In a statement Saturday night, the DMW said it is “deeply concerned” about the case and extended its sincere condolences to the child’s family and the Kuwaiti government.
“The DMW, through the Philippine Embassy and Migrant Workers Office in Kuwait, is closely coordinating with Kuwaiti authorities while extending the necessary assistance to the subject domestic worker due to Kuwaiti laws and the DMW mandate,” the agency said.
The Filipino domestic helper reportedly placed the Kuwaiti child inside a washing machine at her employer’s residence.
The parents rushed to rescue their son upon hearing his screams and brought him to the hospital, where he died due to the injuries.
The DMW said the incident is an “isolated case.”
“We humbly assure you that this tragic incident is isolated and does not represent the values of Filipinos and overseas Filipino workers who are known for their caring nature, professionalism, dedication, and hard work,” it said. (PNA)
