Diesel Prices Set for Big Drop Next Week; Gasoline Likely Steady

Motorists can expect mixed fuel price changes next week. Diesel is set for a sharp rollback, while gasoline may stay flat or see a small bump.

Jetti Petroleum president Leo Bellas said early numbers from the first four trading days of the Mean of Platts Singapore and foreign exchange showed diesel could go down by about P3 to P3.20 per liter.

Gasoline prices, on the other hand, may see no change or a slight increase of around P0.10 per liter for the week starting December 1.

Bellas said the big drop in diesel is due to market correction as global crude prices eased. This comes after renewed optimism over a possible US-brokered ceasefire in Ukraine. He added that Asian gasoline prices dipped too, but higher premium and freight costs are keeping pump prices from falling.

Oil firms will release the official price changes early next week.
