Amidst the hullabaloo over insertions in the country’s budgetary funding that is eyed as the source of irregularities in government expenditures, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) expressed support to a multisectoral initiative that will include the government’s national budget on the blockchain.
According information secretary Henry Rhoel Aguda, they are providing full support to an ongoing collaborative effort which has drawn the participation of New York-based global blockchain technology leader Polygon Labs and local tech partners led by Bayani Chain.
Aguda enthused that the DICT recognizes the merit in using blockchain technology as a solution against corruption.
“Blockchain is a platform for data, with immutability. It cannot be erased or changed,” the secretary explained.
“From a record keeping standpoint, you have an immutable ledger, meaning that ledger will forever be there, (serving like) a single version of the truth,” he added to note.
In view of this development, FPJ Panday Bayanihan party-list representative Brian Poe Llamanzares dusclosed that the push for the National budget’s block chain inclusion has the support in both houses of Congress, with him filing House Bill 4489 that fully supports the initiative.
