The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) is preparing to send modular shelter units (MSUs) to Davao Oriental province following the magnitude 7.4 and 6.8 earthquakes that struck on October 10, in response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive for all agencies to assist victims.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling has mobilized teams from the Central Office and Regional Office 11 to assess needs in coordination with local government units (LGUs), other agencies, and non-government organizations. The MSUs will provide temporary housing for displaced families in Bayanihan Villages identified by LGUs.
DHSUD is collaborating with the Departments of Public Works and Highways, Social Welfare and Development, Health, and Information and Communications Technology, as well as the Armed Forces of the Philippines and private sector partners.
The agency has already established Bayanihan Villages in three Cebu towns and Bogo City after the magnitude 6.9 earthquake on September 30.
