The national government declared work suspension earlier today, but in Pasig City, several local government employees still reported for duty to attend to urgent, time-sensitive tasks.
City officials noted that some departments, such as the Local Civil Registry, sanitation, and cashier’s office, voluntarily continued operations—similar to what happened on August 26 when employees chose to proceed with pending paperwork despite the holiday.
“Many of our staff are already used to reporting for work when necessary,” Pasic City Mayor Vico Sotto remarked, giving a nod to the so-called ‘Team However’ employees who often push through even when work is officially suspended.
With the cancellation of the regular flag-raising ceremony, the official also took the opportunity to make rounds and check on infrastructure projects, including the ongoing pumping station construction in Acacia. The site visit was conducted with assistance from the city’s engineering team and MMDA personnel.
Operations in other city offices are expected to normalize by the next working day, but for now, Pasig LGU expressed appreciation to employees who went the extra mile to ensure that critical services continued uninterrupted.
“Stay safe, and have a blessed week ahead, Pasigueños,” Sotto said.
