The Department of Education on Monday warned the public against fake social media posts alleging that Christmas parties in schools have been canceled nationwide.

DepEd said it has not issued any directive removing Christmas celebrations in elementary, high school, or college institutions.

The department urged the public to scrutinize suspicious posts and report accounts spreading misinformation on social platforms.

In an advisory, DepEd stressed that all official updates are released only through its verified social media channels and website.

The alert was prompted by a viral graphic falsely claiming that the department had banned Christmas parties in many areas.

DepEd said no such policy exists and asked parents, teachers, and students to avoid sharing unverified announcements.

Officials warned that misinformation can disrupt school activities and create unnecessary public confusion.

The department asked stakeholders to rely on official issuances when planning year-end school events.

DepEd also encouraged communities to help curb fake news by practicing responsible online behavior.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to transparent communication as schools prepare for holiday activities.
