Victoria Kjaer Theilvig of Denmark was crowned Miss Universe 2024, defeating 125 other contestants to claim the prestigious title during a ceremony at Arena CDMX in Mexico City. Theilvig’s victory marks Denmark’s first-ever Miss Universe win.
Theilvig was presented with the newly designed Miss Universe crown, created by the international jewelry brand Jewelmer using South Sea pearls from the Philippines. Outgoing Miss Universe, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua, had the honor of crowning Theilvig.
Her triumph was sealed during the final question-and-answer portion, where she impressed judges with her thoughtful response to the questions.
QUESTION: “How would you live your life differently if you knew nobody would judge you?”
ANSWER: “I would never change how I live my life. We learn from our mistakes, we learn every day, we learn something new and we got to take that and bring it to the future. And that’s why I live each day by each day, and I just got to stay positive. So no, I will not change nothing.”
QUESTION: “Miss Universe has inspired generations of women. What is your message to the ones watching you now?”
ANSWER: “My message to all the world that are watching out there is no matter where you come from, no matter your past, you can always choose to turn it into your strengths. It will never define who you are. You just got to keep fighting. I stand here today because I want to change, I want to make history, and that’s what I’m doing tonight. So, never give up. Always believe in yourself, in your dreams, and that is exactly what you’re going to do.”
The top five finalists included: 1st runner-up Chidimma Adetshina of Nigeria, 2nd runner-up Maria Fernanda Beltran of Mexico, 3rd runner-up Opal Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand, and 4th runner-up Ileana Marquez of Venezuela.
These finalists, along with Theilvig, showcased exceptional talent and grace, making the 2024 Miss Universe competition truly memorable.
