SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said the delivery of 730 automated counting machines (ACMs) is ongoing in 17 local government units of Antique.
“The delivered ACMs are now being secured by the municipal election officers as they also wait for the official ballots to arrive,” Comelec acting Assistant Regional Director and concurrent Antique Provincial Election Supervisor Wil Arceño said in an interview Wednesday.
The island municipality of Caluya was the first to receive 40 ACMs on April 27.
All ACMs shall undergo the final testing and sealing on May 7, ahead of the May 12 midyear polls.
Meanwhile, Arceño said around 300 police personnel from the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO6) will be deployed as an augmentation force and help secure the 730 voting centers in Antique.
Joining them are members of the Philippine Army, which will be deployed in remote areas, and the Philippine Coast Guard in island barangays.
“There will be two police personnel to be assigned in each of the voting centers. So far, we have enough personnel to secure the voting centers,” he said. (PNA)
