Recovery teams pulled out two more bodies from the collapsed landfill in Barangay Binaliw before dawn on Sunday, pushing the confirmed death count to six.
The latest retrievals were reported by city authorities after overnight operations resumed at the site despite worsening ground conditions.
Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak, who leads local disaster response efforts, said the victims—both female—were found several hours apart during the search.
Rescuers were forced to navigate unstable soil, scattered debris, and continuing rainfall as they worked through the night.
Officials also warned of methane gas buildup in parts of the landfill, adding another layer of danger to the ongoing operations.
At least 30 people are still missing, while a dozen others were earlier rescued and treated for injuries, according to local records.
Investigators are now looking into possible structural failures and environmental factors that may have contributed to the deadly collapse.
