
De La Salle University’s Kevin Quiambao has been crowned the UAAP Season 86 Most Valuable Player (MVP), marking his second consecutive year receiving the prestigious award.
Quiambao dominated the statistical points (SPs) race, amassing an impressive 81.357 SPs. His outstanding performance throughout the season included league-leading averages of 16.6 points per game, 8.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.0 steal.
Beyond his achievements, Quiambao played a pivotal role in securing La Salle’s top seed for the season. The Green Archers finished the elimination rounds with a remarkable 12-2 win-loss record, earning yet another Final Four appearance.
Mythical Five announced
Quiambao’s teammate Mike Phillips, who consistently delivered strong performances, joins him in the UAAP Season 86 Mythical Five. Phillips averaged 12.0 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game, earning 74.929 SPs.
The other members of the Mythical Five are:
- JD Cagulangan (University of the Philippines): Averaged 11.8 points, 5.0 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game, totaling 69.167 SPs.
- Mohamed Konateh (Far Eastern University): Posted averages of 16.7 points, 16.7 rebounds, and 1.0 block per game, collecting 68.643 SPs.
- Nic Cabanero (University of Santo Tomas): Recorded 16.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per match, accumulating 61.000 SPs.
Precious Momowei of the University of the East was initially a strong contender with 67.538 SPs, thanks to his averages of 14.4 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists. However, he was disqualified from the Mythical Five selection due to a suspension earlier in the season.
Rookie of the Year
Far Eastern University’s Veejay Pre earned the Rookie of the Year title with an impressive debut season. Pre-recorded 50.857 SPs, built on averages of 7.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.

Kevin Quiambao’s back-to-back MVP awards highlight his dominance in the league and cement his status as one of the finest talents in UAAP basketball. His leadership, skill, and consistency have been instrumental in La Salle’s continued success, leaving a lasting mark on collegiate basketball.
