The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has authorized the release of PHP3.39 billion to pay the 2023 Performance-Based Bonus (PBB) for 225,545 qualified officials and personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP). In a Thursday statement, DBM specified that each eligible recipient will receive a bonus equivalent to 45.5 percent of their monthly basic salary as of December 31, 2023.
To qualify, officials and personnel in the First, Second, and Third Levels must have achieved at least a ‘Very Satisfactory’ rating under the Civil Service Commission-approved Strategic Performance Management System or the equivalent rating required by the Career Executive Service Board, as stated by DBM. The funds will be drawn from the Miscellaneous Personnel Benefits Fund under Republic Act 12116, the 2025 General Appropriations Act, following the Final Eligibility Assessment Report from the Administrative Order No. 25 Inter-Agency Task Force dated September 16, 2024.
Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman highlighted the bonus’s importance, saying, “Our police officers are among the pillars of our nation. They stand at the frontlines of peace and order every single day. We see their hard work and dedication, so we are making sure they receive what is rightfully due to them.” She noted that the incentive would provide relief for officers’ families, helping with household budgets, children’s tuition, or daily needs.
Pangandaman added, “Through this release, we not only recognize their service but also reaffirm our commitment to a government that rewards performance and accountability.” This payment underscores the government’s appreciation for the PNP’s sacrifices in maintaining public safety.Copy message
