David Licauco opens up about challenges in dating and his preferences

David Licauco shared in Toni Gonzaga’s latest vlog that one of the challenges of being in the show business is the difficulty in dating. The Kapuso actor explained that being well-known often leads to people thinking, “Oh, baka lokohin lang ako nito” [he might play with me], and women treating him differently, believing, “Marami ‘tong babae” [he has a lot of girls].

David admitted that while he prefers to date someone outside of showbiz, he finds it hard. “Honestly, non-showbiz talaga [ang gusto ko], but I mean, I’m not closing my doors, and baka mas maintindihan [ako] kung ka trabaho [ko]” [Honestly, I prefer non-showbiz, but I’m not closing my doors, maybe someone from showbiz could understand me better].

He also revealed the qualities he looks for in a woman: someone who is pretty, fair-skinned, and “chinita na hindi masyadong chinita” [half-Chinese]. He values kindness, empathy, and someone who is “in touch with life,” not overly attached to their phone or social media.

David is currently starring alongside Barbie Forteza in “Pulang Araw” and the film “That Kind of Love,” and the pair’s tandem, known as BarDa, is set to take on another project in 2025. He is also featured in the upcoming movie “Samahan ng mga Makasalanan” with Sanya Lopez and Liezel Lopez.
