The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Friday that the number of houses damaged during July’s severe weather has increased to 88,492, a significant rise from the 73,059 houses reported earlier in the week.
Of the total affected houses nationwide, 9,707 are classified as “totally damaged,” while 78,785 are considered “partially damaged,” according to the NDRRMC.
Region 1, or the Ilocos Region, reported the highest number of damaged houses, totaling 81,983. This includes 73,295 houses that are “totally damaged” and 8,688 that are “partially damaged.”
As of Friday, the estimated damage to agriculture was reported at PHP2,984,143,362, while damage to infrastructure reached PHP15,723,471,287.
The severe weather that impacted the country last month was attributed to the enhanced southwest monsoon and a series of cyclones, including Crising (International name Wipha), Dante (International name Francisco), and Emong (International name Co-may).
