Creative sector fuels PHP1.94 trillion economy, 7.5M jobs in 2024

Senator Loren Legarda on Wednesday reported that the Philippine creative sector generated PHP1.94 trillion in value and 7.51 million jobs in 2024, citing data from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

This marks an increase from PHP1.72 trillion and 7.26 million jobs in 2023, now accounting for 7.3 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

“These numbers show that Filipino talent is powering industries, livelihoods, and innovation at scale,” Legarda said in observance of Philippine Creative Industries Month this September. “From culture to commerce, creativity drives the change.”

Legarda, co-author of Republic Act No. 11904 or the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act, said the growth highlights how investing in creativity strengthens communities and builds resilient livelihoods.

She also pointed to the National Arts and Craft Fair (NACF) as a vital platform linking artisans to both local and global buyers. Last year, it featured over 250 exhibitors showcasing heritage crafts and sustaining jobs.

This year’s Philippine Creative Industries Month, themed “We Are a Creative Nation,” leads up to NACF 2025, which will be held from Oct. 23 to 29 at the SM Megamall Megatrade Hall in Mandaluyong City.
