The Creamline Cool Smashers look to cement their Premier Volleyball League dynasty as they clash with the Petro Gazz Angels in a do-or-die Game 3 of the All-Filipino Conference Finals on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Chasing an 11th PVL title, Creamline aims to extend its remarkable run that includes three straight All-Filipino championships and a rare Grand Slam finish in 2023. The Cool Smashers bounced back in Game 2 with a hard-fought five-set win, 25-15, 16-25, 25-21, 15-25, 15-9, snapping Petro Gazz’s six-game win streak.
Bernadeth Pons spearheaded the comeback with 22 points, while Jema Galanza and Pangs Panaga added 13 and 12, respectively. Panaga delivered a well-rounded performance, scoring three aces and two blocks in the two-hour, 28-minute thriller.
Petro Gazz, however, remains determined to claim its maiden All-Filipino title after drawing first blood in Game 1, 25-17, 25-20, 18-25, 20-25, 15-10, behind Brooke Van Sickle’s 24-point outburst. MJ Phillips and Jonah Sabete added 16 points apiece, while Myla Pablo chipped in 12.
The Angels, coached by Timmy Sto. Tomas, will also rely on veterans Remy Palma, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Nicole Tiamzon, and Djanel Cheng, along with key contributors Joy Dacoron, Marian Buitre, Ranya Musa, and Chie Saet.
Creamline mentor Sherwin Meneses will bank on his deep rotation featuring Tots Carlos, Bea De Leon, Michele Gumabao, Alyssa Valdez, Lorie Bernardo, and Kyle Negrito to deliver under pressure.
A massive crowd is expected to fill the 10,000-seat Philsports Arena, with Creamline’s loyal fanbase once again showing up in force—just as they did in Game 2, which drew over 11,000 spectators at the Araneta Coliseum.
