Court of Appeals upholds bail cancellation of six accused in missing sabungeros case

The Court of Appeals (CA) affirmed its previous ruling voiding the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 40’s grant of bail to six individuals charged with kidnapping and serious illegal detention related to the missing sabungeros case.

According to a report by “Saksi” on Monday, the accused filed a motion for reconsideration, arguing that there were no clear provisions explicitly canceling their bail.

However, the CA third division clarified that although the original decision did not explicitly state the bail cancellation, it is clearly implied that the bail was revoked.

The court emphasized that after reviewing the evidence, there is “evident proof” the accused committed the crime.

The accused also failed to present any overlooked evidence that would justify altering the CA’s initial decision.
