All charges against actress Nerizza “Neri” Miranda related to the Dermacare/Beyond Skin Care Solutions scandal have been dismissed by the Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC).
In a February 12, 2025 ruling, Branch 112 of RTC Pasay City dropped all charges in the syndicated estafa case against Miranda, after the Pasay City Office of the City Prosecutor found no grounds for indictment following a reinvestigation requested by her legal counsel.
Acting Presiding Judge Ronald August L. Tan, in his ruling, emphasized the lack of evidence, stating, “The private complainants never alleged being defrauded by [Miranda]… More mind-boggling is that private complainants never asserted having personally transacted with or handed over money to [Miranda]… Therefore, the evidence presented indeed fails to establish that [Miranda] committed the crime of Estafa, moreso, Syndicated Estafa.”
Earlier, on January 20, another RTC Pasay City Branch 111 ruling dismissed charges against Miranda for violating the Securities Regulation Code (Republic Act No. 8799).
Miranda’s legal team expressed gratitude for the court’s decisions. “We thank the courts for clearing Neri Miranda’s name, who has unmistakably been falsely accused of wrongdoing in the Dermacare case,” said Atty. Aureli Sinsuat of FLO Attorneys-at-Law, co-counsel for Miranda.
“We hope that this issue will be put to rest as regards to Neri, so that instrumentalities of the law can focus on bringing the true perpetrators of the Dermacare scam to justice,” Sinsuat added.
Neri’s husband, Chito Miranda, lead singer of Parokya ni Edgar, expressed deep relief for his wife’s acquittal. “Mabuti nalang talaga na alam ni Lord ang buong katotohanan kaya never Nya pinabayaan si Neri,” he wrote in an Instagram post.
He also thanked those who stood by his wife and had faith in her. “Sobrang blessed din kami dahil the people who matter knew the truth as well, and did everything they could to help and support her.”
The dismissal of all charges clears Neri Miranda of any involvement in the Dermacare scandal, with her supporters hopeful that the real culprits will be brought to justice.
Reflecting on the ordeal, her husband, Chito, expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering support his wife received. “Neri would always choose to be kind and fair, no matter how mean and unfair the world is, and kahit ano ang ibato sa kanya ng mundo, her integrity, at ang kanyang mabuting pagkatao, will always be intact. To those who chose to stand up and defend my wife, maraming salamat talaga,” he said.
