Cops arrest suspect in shooting of woman during live selling in Rizal

Police arrested a 31-year-old man on Saturday following a shooting incident that targeted a woman during a live online selling session in Taytay, Rizal.

The suspect, whose identity was withheld by police, was apprehended in the neighboring town of Angono on January 17, just one day after the attack. He is facing charges of frustrated murder.

According to the Taytay Municipal Police Station, the incident occurred on January 16 while the 23-year-old victim was hosting a livestream to sell products in Barangay Sta. Ana.

The suspect, wearing a face mask and a ballcap, allegedly shot the victim in the head before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.

The victim survived the attack, sustaining a grazing bullet wound to the nape. She was rushed to a hospital in Pasig City and is currently in stable condition.

Investigations revealed that the motive for the shooting was personal resentment. The suspect is the former live-in partner of the store owner where the victim works.

Police said the suspect blamed the victim for his recent breakup with the store owner, alleging that the victim had informed his partner about his involvement with other women.

The suspect also reportedly harbored bitterness after the victim was tasked with managing the store following the couple’s separation and division of assets.

The suspect is currently held at the Taytay Municipal Police Station Custodial Facility as legal proceedings continue.
