DUMAGUETE CITY – Negros Oriental-based cooperative Perpetual Help Community Cooperative, Inc. (PHCCI) is offering two additional burial benefits for qualified members effective March 1.
In a press conference here Friday, PHCCI chief marketing officer Rex Rastica said the benefits are P30,000 burial package with partner funeral homes and the use of a brand new 30-seater coaster.
“The burial package will be offered to members in good standing who have passed, and can be used for the casket and other funeral services. But this is not convertible to cash,” he said, adding this is on top of the regular mortuary benefits for members.
The benefit is available to all cooperative members including those residing outside Negros Oriental and in areas without a PHCCI branch, provided that they meet the qualifications, Rastica said.
Meanwhile, Rastica said the coaster can be used by the bereaved family for a maximum of five hours, excluding travel time, on the day of the burial.
The partner funeral homes are located in this city, as well as in Tanjay City, Jimalalud, Manjuyod, Ayungon, Guihulngan and Siquijor province.
There are also partner funeral homes in Toledo City, Cebu City, Argao, and Bogo in Cebu province.
PHCCI, through its board of directors, decided to provide these latest offerings to its members as it endeavors to be at par with world-class cooperatives.
Board members and information technology staff are sent abroad for training and to learn innovations and services from leading cooperatives that can be tailored-fit for application here, Rastica said.
He added that the cooperative saw the need to provide its members with additional burial benefits after it noted that around 800 members died last year.
PHCCI’s total assets as of December 2024 was pegged at PHP8.2 billion, with 110,710 members. (PNA)
