Alfonso, Cavite — 917Ventures employees recently traded their desks for a day of service and compassion as they joined a volunteer initiative at Biyaya Animal Sanctuary, a rescue haven that cares for more than 1,600 dogs and cats.
The full-day activity gave employees a firsthand look at the realities of animal rescue while allowing them to contribute directly to the sanctuary’s everyday operations. Home to animals that have been vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped, Biyaya Animal Sanctuary continues to serve as a vital refuge for rescued pets and a strong advocate for responsible pet ownership.
During the immersion, volunteers took on a variety of tasks essential to the sanctuary’s daily work. They helped prepare meals, maintain shelter spaces, assist with operational needs, and provide administrative support. Guided orientation sessions and immersion tours also gave participants a deeper understanding of the sanctuary’s mission and the challenges that come with caring for a large rescued animal population.
For 917Ventures, the initiative reflected a broader commitment to creating impact beyond the business sphere.
“At 917Ventures, innovation goes beyond technology, it’s about making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve,” said Vince Yamat, CEO & Managing Director. “Supporting Biyaya Animal Sanctuary allows our teams to contribute to a compassionate ecosystem while reinforcing responsible pet care. Ventures like Pettr help us make pet care more accessible, responsible, and sustainable for Filipino pet owners.”
The experience also became an opportunity to strengthen the company’s culture of empathy, teamwork, and purpose-driven engagement.
“Activities like this allow our teams to connect with causes that matter, build empathy, and collaborate more effectively,” said Rase Eustaquio, Head of People. “Volunteerism is an essential part of nurturing a purpose-driven organization.”
Biyaya Animal Care welcomed the collaboration as a meaningful step toward improving the lives of rescued animals while expanding awareness on responsible pet ownership.
“Volunteer efforts like these directly improve the lives of rescued animals while helping promote responsible pet ownership,” said Rina Ortiz, Founder, President, and CEO of Biyaya Animal Care. “Collaborations with organizations such as 917Ventures show how businesses and communities can come together to move us closer to a shared goal of a stray-free, rabies-free Philippines.”
More than a one-day volunteering effort, the initiative underscored how corporate teams can help drive social good in tangible ways. By supporting Biyaya’s vision of a stray-free, rabies-free Philippines by 2035, 917Ventures showed that meaningful change can begin with simple acts of care, commitment, and community involvement.
