Committee leaders investigating both former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Vice President Sara Duterte stated that they see similarities in the father and daughter’s behavior.
“Nakikita natin ang pattern ng mag-ama,” the committee said in a press conference held on November 12. (We see a pattern of behavior.)
Present at the press conference were committee heads Surigao del Norte Second District Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, Manila Sixth District Representative Bienvenido Abante, Santa Rosa City Rep. Dan Fernandez, Zambales First District Rep. Jay Khonghun, Rep. Rodge Gutierrez, and Lead Chair of the Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability, Manila Third District Rep. Joel Chua.
Fernandez shared his sentiments about the absence of important officials in the latest hearing of the Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability, and also expressed his opinion regarding the Duterte father and daughter.
“I think the father and daughter have the same kind of personality,” Fernandez said.
Fernandez’s observation was that VP Sara shields her people by not letting them attend the hearings, while former President Duterte tends to take all the blame for the events that took place in his bloody drug war.
Khonghun agreed with Fernandez, saying that both Duterte’s issues are similar.
“Kung may Davao model sa EJK, may Davao model din sa pag-gastos ng confidential funds,” Khonghun said. (If there is a Davao model for EJK, then there is a Davao model for the use of confidential funds.)
“Nakikita natin ang pattern ng mag-ama, nakikita natin ang pattern na kanilang ginagawa patungkol sa extrajudicial killings at saka kung paano nila ginagastos ang confidential funds,” he added. (We can see the pattern of father and daughter. We see the pattern on EJKs and how they spend the confidential funds.)
Khonghun also noted that Davao procured the highest amount of confidential funds among all the cities in the country.
