The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported Monday that the automated counting machines (ACMs) used in the May 12 midterm elections have so far shown a 99.996% accuracy rate.
Citing initial results from the ongoing random manual audit (RMA), Comelec Chairperson George Garcia said 407 of the 762 clustered precincts have been audited as of June 1.
“So far, we have conducted manual audit of more than 400 clustered precincts out of the total number subjected to RMA,” Garcia said in a radio interview. “So far, so good. We are getting 99.996 percent accuracy rate from the machines.”
He added that the audit, which began on May 14, is expected to be completed by June 28.
“Hopefully, the high accuracy rate will be sustained,” he said.
The RMA is required by law to manually verify the vote counts generated by ACMs. In the May 2022 elections, the vote counting machines recorded a 99.95% accuracy rate.
