Comelec Pangasinan aims to register 100,000 new voters

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Pangasinan provincial office is targeting to register around 100,000 new voters from October 20, 2025, to May 18, 2026.

Pangasinan provincial election supervisor Atty. Marino Salas said the province currently has around 2.1 million registered voters, and the goal is to further increase participation, not only for regular elections but also for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls.

“The total number of people who voted in Pangasinan, 18 and above, is around 2.1 million. Our target is to register at least 100,000. That’s conservative. We want to add more people to our list,” Salas said in an interview Monday.

He added that first-time voters must present a government-issued ID such as a national ID, but school IDs and birth certificates will also be accepted as supporting documents.

The registration also covers transfer of records, correction of entries, and reactivation of voter status. Comelec will conduct off-site registrations in schools and barangays and set special schedules for indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and senior citizens to ensure inclusivity.

“We go to them. We coordinate with local government officials and tribe leaders so that we can accommodate our countrymen, especially those in remote areas,” Salas said.

He also urged residents to register early to avoid long lines near the deadline.

“Let’s not wait for the deadline… It’s better to do it earlier so we won’t have to rush during the last few weeks,” he reminded.

Comelec offices in Pangasinan are open Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays, to accommodate registrants.
