Comelec disqualifies Duterte Youth Partylist

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has issued a Certificate of Finality on the disqualification of the Duterte Youth Partylist, officially canceling its registration.

In a resolution released Tuesday, the Commission En Banc affirmed the Second Division’s ruling that the group’s registration is “void ab initio” for failing to comply with publication and hearing requirements.

The Comelec also cited several violations, including untruthful statements on the eligibility of nominees, lack of genuine intent to represent the youth sector, advocating violence, receiving assistance from the National Youth Commission, violating election laws, and undermining the party-list system.

It also noted the mass withdrawal, substitution, and repeated switching of nominees during the 2019 elections, saying these moves “make a mockery of the election process.”

“With the issuance of Certificate of Finality and Entry of Judgment, the Order of the Commission En Banc as to the cancellation of party-list registration of Duterte Youth is now declared immediately executory,” the resolution stated.
