College of Saint Benilde triumphs in NCAA volleyball

College of Saint Benilde continued its dominant run in the NCAA Season 100 women’s volleyball tournament, sweeping San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 25-20, 25-13, 25-21, on Thursday at the Lyceum of the Philippines University gym.

Wielyn Estoque powered the Lady Blazers with 15 points, tallying 14 attacks and an ace, as they secured their third consecutive victory. Clydel Mae Catarig contributed 12 points, while Zamantha Nolasco added 11, highlighted by six blocks. Cristy Ondangan also made an impact with eight points, four of which came from blocks.

Team captain Francis Mycah Go chipped in seven points, including two aces, while libero Fiona Getigan anchored the defense with 11 digs.

Katherine Santos led the scoring effort for San Sebastian with 12 points, registering 11 attacks and a block. Christine Marasigan and Juna May Gonzales added 10 and six points, respectively, as the Lady Stags suffered their first defeat in three outings.

In the men’s division, CSB relied on strong performances from Rocky Roy Motol and Arnel Christian Aguilar to secure a straight-set win over San Sebastian, 25-17, 25-23, 25-21.

Motol spearheaded the offense with 16 points, including 12 attacks, while Aguilar contributed 13 points in the one-hour and 11-minute contest.

Jacob Agassi Herrera made his presence felt with 12 points, featuring four blocks, while John Andriane Austero chipped in 10 points, including two blocks and two aces. The Blazers remained unbeaten, notching their third win.

San Sebastian’s team captain, Kyle Angelo Villamor, made a valiant effort with 13 points on 12 attacks and one block, adding 10 receptions. Justine Santos recorded 10 points, including two aces, while Joshua Espenida tallied seven points as the Stags fell to their third straight loss.
