Coca-Cola’s expanded initiative officially kicked off with a Tapon to Ipon booth activation on April 29, 2025, at Terra 28th in BGC, showcasing the importance of strong community engagement.
Coca-Cola Philippines is taking its sustainability mission to the next level with the nationwide expansion of its groundbreaking PET bottle collection initiative, Tapon to Ipon.
This bold move brings together the company’s various recycling efforts—including the popular Tindahan Extra Mile (TEM) program—under one powerful, unified campaign aimed at transforming how communities across the country recycle.
“Coca-Cola Philippines continues to innovate and improve our recycling systems to help address plastic waste,” said Tony del Rosario, President of Coca-Cola Philippines. “By expanding Tapon to Ipon, we’re creating more access and deeper impact through meaningful community partnerships.”
With over 6,000 collection hubs now operational from Luzon to Mindanao, Tapon to Ipon is making it easier than ever for Filipinos to do their part in reducing plastic waste. Whether you’re in a bustling city or a quiet barangay, a drop-off point is likely just around the corner.
The program’s relaunch was marked with an energizing community event on April 29, 2025, at Terra 28th in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), spotlighting the power of local action and collaboration in solving environmental challenges.
Launched in 2021 by Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines (CCEAP), formerly Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc., Tapon to Ipon has already brought together sari-sari stores, local governments, and everyday consumers to recover used clear PET bottles—regardless of brand.
“We are grateful to all our partners who continue to support collective environmental action,” said Gareth McGeown, CEO and President of CCEAP. “This expansion reflects our ongoing mission to empower Filipino communities and build a sustainable future.”

At the Tapon to Ipon activation in BGC, attendees dropped off their empty PET bottles and joined the “Dunk, Not Junk” shooting hoops game for a chance to win Coca-Cola merchandise, refreshing products, and other exciting prizes.
Bottles for rewards—and a greener future
Here’s how it works: consumers can drop off their used PET bottles at participating sari-sari stores, community hubs, or even special pop-up booths at major events like the Sinulog Festival in Cebu and Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo. In return, they earn rewards like Coca-Cola products—a win for both the planet and the pocket.
All collected bottles are sent to PETValue Philippines, the country’s first food-grade bottle-to-bottle recycling facility in General Trias, Cavite. This state-of-the-art plant, a joint venture between CCEAP and Indorama Ventures, turns used plastic into new, food-grade recycled PET (rPET) bottles, helping close the loop on plastic waste.
A major highlight of the program’s expansion is its deeper integration with micro-retailers—especially sari-sari stores and carinderias. Through a partnership with Basic Environmental Systems and Technologies, Inc. (BEST) and the Philippine Association of Stores and Carinderia Owners (PASCO), store owners can now earn points for collecting PET bottles and other recyclables from their communities.
These points can be redeemed for cash or products through the bXTRA app, adding an economic boost to environmental responsibility.
To date, Tapon to Ipon has reached more than 170 cities and municipalities, earning accolades from the FMCG Asia Awards, Quill Awards, and Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards for its innovative approach to sustainability and responsible waste management.
Coca-Cola’s expanding network of collection hubs continues to grow, with hundreds already established—and more on the way.
