Clippers surge continues as Kawhi leads statement win over Pacers

The Los Angeles Clippers look increasingly dangerous as the NBA season pushes toward its decisive stretch, and Kawhi Leonard is once again at the center of their momentum.

Leonard delivered another commanding performance with 29 points, powering the Clippers to a convincing 130–107 victory over the struggling Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. The win extended Los Angeles’ streak to three games and reinforced the team’s surge since late December.

The Clippers have now gone 24–10 since Dec. 20, steadily building rhythm behind a balanced offense and a defensive presence anchored by Leonard. The two-time Finals MVP set the tone early, pouring in 20 points in the first half as Los Angeles seized control of the game.

Bennedict Mathurin added an emotional layer to the matchup, scoring 23 points against the franchise that drafted him. The young guard, who was traded to Los Angeles on Feb. 5 along with Isaiah Jackson, punctuated the night with a third-quarter dunk before briefly turning toward the Pacers bench — a moment that captured the Clippers’ dominance.

Brook Lopez contributed 17 points while Derrick Jones Jr. chipped in 12 for Los Angeles. Newly acquired guard Darius Garland also made his presence felt in his first home appearance for the team, finishing with 12 points and eight assists while orchestrating the Clippers’ offense.

Indiana briefly threatened to make the contest competitive after trimming the deficit to six points early in the second half, 65–59. But the Clippers quickly restored order, unleashing a decisive run in the third quarter that pushed the lead to 102–77 entering the final period.

The Pacers, meanwhile, continue to spiral. The loss marked their seventh straight defeat and dropped them to 2–11 since Feb. 2.

Pascal Siakam returned from a wrist injury and led Indiana with 29 points, while Jay Huff added 18 and Jarace Walker finished with 17. Despite the offensive contributions, the Pacers struggled defensively once again — a recurring problem during their losing streak.

Indiana has now surrendered at least 125 points in six consecutive games, highlighting the defensive lapses that have plagued the team.

Aaron Nesmith and Andrew Nembhard both returned from injuries but had little offensive impact, combining to shoot just 2-for-13 from the field.

The Pacers started the night aggressively, hitting seven of their first eight shots to build early momentum. But the Clippers gradually tightened their defense and found their rhythm offensively, closing the opening quarter with a 42–35 advantage before extending the lead to 63–51 at halftime.

Los Angeles finished the game shooting an efficient 55.1 percent from the floor, compared to Indiana’s 42.9 percent.

The Clippers did suffer a setback in the second quarter when promising rookie Yanic Konan Niederhauser exited with a right foot injury after recording six points and four rebounds in just eight minutes.

Even so, the night belonged to Leonard and a Clippers team that appears to be gaining strength at the right time. With their roster settling into place following recent trades and new additions beginning to mesh, Los Angeles is quickly emerging as one of the Western Conference’s most dangerous contenders.
