Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda has remained tight-lipped following reports of his wife, actress and entrepreneur Neri Naig, being arrested over alleged estafa and securities law violations.
Instead, Miranda shared a lighthearted Instagram post on Tuesday, November 26, featuring a Star Wars-inspired building-block toy resembling Baby Yoda.
“The cutest Lego figure. This is Migs’ [toy], but I want to keep it for myself,” he captioned the photo, referring to their son’s toy.
Arrest reports surface
The post came shortly after showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz claimed that Naig had been arrested on November 23 in Pasay City. Diaz provided a blurred document alleging that Naig violated Section 28 of the Securities Regulation Code (Republic Act No. 8799) regarding the illegal sale and distribution of unregistered securities.
Police confirmation
The National Capital Region Police Office – Southern Police District (NCRPO-SPD) later issued a statement confirming the arrest of a 41-year-old actress and businesswoman identified as “alias Neri.”
According to the police, “alias Neri” was apprehended at the basement of a convention center in a Pasay City mall. The arrest was based on a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 111 of Pasay City for 14 counts of violations of Section 28 of Republic Act No. 8799.
Silence from Neri Naig
Neri Naig has not publicly addressed the allegations or her reported arrest. Miranda’s social media posts also did not refer to the matter; instead, they focused on his family and their son’s toy.
