ISTANBUL — China successfully launched three remote sensing satellites on Thursday as part of its continuing efforts to expand space-based scientific research and monitoring capabilities.

According to state-run Xinhua News Agency, the Yaogan-51 07-09 satellites were carried into space aboard a Long March-2C rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwestern China’s Sichuan province.

The satellites successfully entered their designated orbits following the launch.

The spacecraft are intended to support scientific experiments and electromagnetic environment detection, according to the report.

The mission marked the 675th flight of China’s Long March carrier rocket series, which has been used extensively for the country’s satellite deployment and space exploration programs.

The latest launch followed another successful mission on October 25, when China deployed a batch of low-Earth-orbit internet satellites from the southern island province of Hainan.

That earlier launch marked the 674th mission of the Long March rocket series.

The successive missions reflect China’s continuing expansion of its satellite infrastructure, including systems designed for scientific observation, environmental monitoring and communications.
