China launched a new group of communication technology test satellites into orbit on Thursday, according to state media.
The satellites lifted off at 9 a.m. aboard a modified Long March-6 rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi province.
The payloads successfully entered their designated orbits following the launch, Xinhua reported.
The satellites will support tests involving satellite communications, television and radio broadcasting, and data transmission.
They will also be used to verify related communication technologies and systems.
Authorities did not disclose the number of satellites launched or provide further technical details about the spacecraft.
The mission marked another launch from Taiyuan, one of China’s major spaceports for satellites bound for polar and sun-synchronous orbits.
Thursday’s launch was the 660th mission of China’s Long March rocket series.
