MANILA – Nxled moved closer to earning the first semifinal berth in the PVL All Filipino Conference Siklab Series after sweeping Capital1, 25-12, 25-20, 25-18, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City on Saturday.

Brooke Van Sickle topscored with 13 points, followed by MJ Phillips, who had nine, including three blocks, as the Chameleons rolled to their fifth straight win.

Jackie Acuña and Jonah Escamillan chipped in seven points each, while Myla Pablo, EJ Cariño, and Ranya Musa scored four points apiece in the one-hour-and-21-minute match.

Maria Angelica Cayuna orchestrated Nxled’s offensive assault, finishing with 16 excellent sets and scoring three points.

“We just focused on our strengths and reminded each other not to be overconfident. Any team right now is really strong, so we always have to go all-out. That’s what we do in training, so it’s a good thing it translated onto the court,” said Cayuna, who earned the Best Player of the Game honors.

Nxled will formally enter the Final Four if it wins over sister team Akari on Nov. 12.

The Chameleons’ last two games are against fellow title contender Creamline on Nov. 17 and winless ZUS Coffee on Nov. 21.

Meanwhile, Erika Mae Santos scored 12 points for the Solar Spikers, who absorbed their third straight setback for a 2-4 record.

Vanessa Gandler added seven points, while Bella Belen managed only five points for the Solar Spikers, who will battle the Farm Fresh Foxies on Nov. 14 and the Galeries Tower Highrisers on Nov. 19. (PNA)
