Cebu Pacific signs 12-year maintenance deal with Pratt & Whitney for GTF engines

Pratt & Whitney, a business unit of RTX, has entered into a long-term EngineWise comprehensive maintenance agreement with Cebu Pacific (CEB) for the airline’s GTF engine fleet. The 12-year partnership is designed to align engine maintenance costs with actual engine usage, offering more efficient cost management as Cebu Pacific expands its network.

“This agreement deepens our partnership with Cebu Pacific and supports the ongoing reliability and performance of their growing fleet,” said Rick Deurloo, President of Commercial Engines at Pratt & Whitney. “We’re proud to be part of their growth strategy and remain committed to helping them operate efficiently.”

The deal covers the GTF engines ordered by Cebu Pacific in 2024, including those for up to 152 A321neo aircraft announced in July and 15 A320neo family aircraft from a February order. Under the EngineWise™ program, Cebu Pacific will benefit from comprehensive fleet support, access to technical expertise, maintenance planning tools, and real-time data analysis to help optimize operations.

“Our focus is on keeping our fleet running at peak performance while minimizing fuel costs and emissions,” said Mike Szucs, Chief Executive Officer of Cebu Pacific. “The GTF engine has helped us achieve up to 20 percent lower fuel burn compared to previous-generation engines, resulting in significant fuel savings and a more sustainable operation. This maintenance agreement will help ensure we continue scaling our operations efficiently.”

Cebu Pacific currently operates 56 aircraft powered by Pratt & Whitney engines. The airline’s partnership with Pratt & Whitney dates back to the 1990s, starting with JT8D engines for its DC-9 fleet. The latest agreement marks another milestone in a decades-long collaboration aimed at advancing aviation efficiency and reliability in the Philippines.
