Cebu Pacific adjusts flights ahead of ASEAN Summit

Cebu Pacific has adjusted several domestic and international flight schedules ahead of the Philippines’ hosting of the 49th ASEAN Summit on November 16 to 18, 2026, to minimize disruptions to passengers.

Cebu Pacific spokesperson Carmina Romero said Thursday that affected passengers had already been notified and accommodated following the airline’s advance schedule adjustments.

“It’s been seven days since we notified our passengers and they have all been re-accommodated,” Romero said.

Although she did not specify the number of canceled flights, Romero confirmed that the adjustments affected several domestic and international routes.

She assured passengers that Cebu Pacific does not expect further cancellations related to the summit, as the airline has completed its schedule changes and coordination with airport authorities.

“We’re being careful not to further scare passengers. Because as far as CEB is concerned, we’re done and we’ve re-accommodated concerned passengers,” Romero said.

Meanwhile, AirAsia Philippines said it had not received any advisory requiring flight cancellations in connection with the regional gathering.

“Sa AirAsia wala naman advise sa amin na may cancellation,” AirAsia Philippines Assistant Manager for External Communications Karen Villanda said.

The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), in an advisory issued October 26, warned that the arrival of ASEAN delegates could require temporary airport operational adjustments and heightened security measures, potentially affecting commercial flights.

CAB Executive Director Carmelo Arcilla earlier said more than 100 flights could be canceled during the summit period.

He emphasized that passengers affected by cancellations must be offered options, including refunds, rebooking, or conversion of ticket value into a travel fund.

However, Arcilla clarified that airlines would not be responsible for additional expenses, such as hotel accommodations, when cancellations result from circumstances beyond their control.

The ASEAN Summit is expected to bring regional leaders and delegations to the Philippines, prompting airport authorities and airlines to coordinate operational and security arrangements.

Passengers traveling during the summit period are advised to check their flight status and monitor official airline announcements for possible schedule changes.
