After years of captivating audiences in dramas and romantic series, Carla Abellana is returning to the genre that first showcased her intensity—horror.
The Kapuso star is stepping back into the eerie world of the legendary Shake, Rattle & Roll franchise, as she joins the cast of the upcoming film Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origin. Taking to Instagram, Carla shared behind-the-scenes photos from the film’s recent story conference, exclaiming her growing anticipation: “Not me getting more and more excited to work on a horror film again. And it’s gonna be a good one!”
The upcoming movie brings together a powerful ensemble of scream queens and new-gen stars. Joining Carla are Ysabel Ortega, Ashley Ortega, Arlene Muhlach, Loisa Andalio, and the iconic Janice De Belen—each actress with their own legacy in local cinema. The gathering of such talent signals something bigger: a darker, more ambitious take on the horror anthology that has terrified generations since the 1980s.
Regal Entertainment, which posted official photos from the story conference on July 26, teased fans with a cryptic caption: “The scream queens have returned—and they’re not alone.”
That single line was enough to send horror fans speculating. Could this be the bloodiest, boldest Shake, Rattle & Roll yet?

Directed by a trio of rising horror auteurs—Shugo Praico, Joey De Guzman, and Ian Loreños—Evil Origin promises to dig deeper into the twisted mythologies behind Filipino folklore and urban legends, while paying homage to the franchise’s roots.
As an official entry to the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival, Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origin isn’t just a comeback for its stars—it’s a revival of fear itself.
Stay tuned. The darkness is coming—and it’s bringing legends with it.
