\MANILA – Forensic financial analyst Alexander Cabrera identified Rep. Chel Diokno as the member of the prosecution panel who approached him to serve as a witness in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
During Monday’s proceedings, October 12, defense lawyer Kristine Ferrer questioned Cabrera about his involvement in the case and his previous interactions with members of the prosecution.
“Who among the members of the panel of prosecutors approached you sir, if you can recall?” Ferrer asked.
“It is Congressman Chel Diokno,” Cabrera replied.
Ferrer then asked whether Cabrera had known Diokno before through their participation in public hearings.
Cabrera denied this, explaining that he first met Diokno face-to-face when they participated in a panel discussion organized by the Good Governance Advocates of the Philippines.
“No po. The first time I met Congressman Chel Diokno, I mean face-to-face, we sat on a panel together in the Good Governance Advocates of the Philippines… That was last year lang po yata,” Cabrera said.
The exchange formed part of the defense team’s questioning of Cabrera concerning his background and involvement as a prosecution witness in the impeachment proceedings.
